SAGES BOYS AND GIRLS WIN OKAW TRACK
The Monticello Sages boys and girls were winners at Clinton last week in the Okaw Valley track and field meet.
The boys were dominant as they scored 157 points in defeating second place Clinton by 52 points. Monticello won all four relay events. Scott Phelps won the 800 meters and the triple jump. Other individual winners were Andrew Colbert in the 1,600 and Ben Cresap in the 110 meter high hurdles.
The girls won with depth and balance. Monticello placed first in the 800 relay and had individual wins by Rachel Winckler in the high jump and Kerby Waddell in the 800 meters. Monticello scored 109 points to second place Argenta-Oreana’s 106.
The girls sectional meet will be held at Tuscola on Friday, May 13th. The boys meet will also be at Tuscola the following Friday, May 20th.
State meets follow a week later and are held in Charleston at EIU.
